New Inter boss Inzaghi praises Milan for ‘excellent season’ and relishes ‘exciting challenge’

New Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has shared some of his thoughts ahead of managing in the Derby della Madonnina next season.

Inter announced Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach last month following the departure of Antonio Conte, who led the Nerazzurri to their first trophy in 10 years as they were crowned Serie A champions.

Inzaghi left his role with Lazio in order to try a new challenge, but given the turmoil Inter find themselves in at corporate level, with star wing-back Achraf Hakimi having been sold to Paris Saint-Germain amid suggestions more key players like Lautaro Martinez could leave the club.

During the press conference to mark his official presentation as the new Inter coach, Simone Inzaghi spoke about the Milan derby – a fixture that he and his brother Pippo know well – and complimented the Rossoneri for their excellent 2020-21 campaign.

“We know what the derby is in Rome, but also in Milan there is a very strong rivalry. Milan had an excellent season, leading for twenty rounds, it will be an exciting challenge,” he said (via MilanNews).
