Longo: Newcastle come back in for Lille star and surpass Milan’s bid – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

Newcastle United have launched a new bid for Lille defender Sven Botman in an attempt to hijack AC Milan’s move, a report claims.

Several reliable sources have stated over the past few weeks that Botman should be one of the first signings that Milan make this summer with everything in the operation virtually agreed and the player looking forward to a new challenge.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com Newcastle are not giving up in their pursuit of Botman after the January battle between the two clubs to land the Dutchman. The Premier League side have now even come in with an offer higher than that of Milan.

The player has an agreement with the Rossoneri management over personal terms, but this new bid could change the story with Lille who would obviously like to raise as much money as possible from the sale of one of their biggest assets, especially after a disappointing season and with a precarious financial situation.

  1. This was always likely to be the case if Newcastle stayed up. I suspect Botman’s agent will be pleading with him to go to England – seems much more likely to me.

  2. Newcastle and practically every other EPL team can outbid us in ANY player so nothing new here. Botman will decide. He turned down Newcastle in January maybe he will do so again. We have CL next season and they do not but $$ talks so we will see what he decides

  3. Looks like he will be going to Newcastle then, they can out bid Milan easily, not to mention they can pay him more, £££ talks in this game, there the richest club in the world by a mile

  4. If I’m Botman, I’m thinking: would I like to live and work in Newcastle with triple the salary or Milan with less money and way more good times? I’m choosing Milan.
