CorSera: ‘No mistakes allowed’ – UCL top eight becomes No.1 target for Milan

It feels like AC Milan are never far away from a must-win game, and that applies to the midweek fixture against Red Star in the Champions League.

After Friday night’s defeat against Atalanta further complicated the quest to climb the table in Serie A, Milan would probably like to get back on the field in league action. However, as Corriere della Sera (via MilanPress) writes, they must divert their attention back to Europe.

Indeed, the Rossoneri face high-flying Red Star (who have won all but one league game this season) at San Siro on Wednesday night at 21:00 CET. Milan want to finish in the top eight of the table, and the three wins in a row have boosted the chances of doing so.

After facing the Serbian champions, the next games in the UCL are against Girona (also at San Siro) and away against Dinamo Zagreb. Thus, getting into the top eight is the ‘number one objective for Milan’ at present.

The season will not be saved with that alone, because qualifying for the next edition of the competition remains very important, but it represents a concrete and achievable objective which will bring prestige and money.

After Wednesday’s game, the team will return to thinking about the league with the Genoa, Hellas Verona and Roma trio of games to close 2024. The primary mission is Red Star, and there are ‘no mistakes allowed’.

  1. Top 4 should also be a target and a bare minimum target. This is silly, we make it to the top 8, get eliminated in the next round and season over? no top 4 no next season.

      1. Maaan, I would be happy if we will have little Lucky for second part of season, but I don’t think so there is a chance for something like this
