AC Milan will go into another international break looking to extract the positives from some great results while seeking consistency.
The rollercoaster start to the season that Milan have had under Paulo Fonseca has made games quite difficult to predict, but with such a big fixture coming up after the break it would be wrong not to check out www.betpack.com.
Going into this latest round of international fixtures, the Rossoneri are reflecting after picking up seven points from four league games against Udinese, Napoli, Monza and Cagliari, with a postponed game against Bologna putting them behind the other teams in the league.
Fonseca’s men did take maximum points from the two Champions League fixtures with two 3-1 wins over Club Brugge and Real Madrid. These results have certainly tipped the scales back in favour of knockout stage qualification, especially with theg ames that are to come.
Something that must be picked out is that the team are struggling more against opponents who play with a deeper defence, play man-to-man and have a higher reluctance in maintaining possession. This is seen in the last two results, against Real Madrid – who let Milan play – and Cagliari who made things a phyiscal battle.
During his presser at Milanello on the eve of the game against the Sardinians, a reporter asked him about the potential reasons that Milan did better against Inter and Real Madrid, when they were expected to lose.
“Maybe we can have different explanations. First of all I have to say that this type of match is a great motivation for the players. If we can tell the truth, the players face these matches more motivated than other matches,” he said.
“And for this reason I am more worried today about Cagliari than before the match against Real. Then, they are totally different matches. When you play against this type of team like against Real, the worst that can happen is not having courage because there is so much space.
“When teams play these types of matches they go in with a bit of fear and think about defending themselves. But I tell the players that there is space, that we can do our things and therefore during the match you gain confidence. In this type of match we have space to play.
“Tomorrow I am sure we will not have the same space to play. The team when it is in this context is a team that has courage, that controls the match, that plays together. That is why we did well.”
This is something that must be ironed out by the time that Milan play Juventus one week from Saturday at San Siro. Thiago Motta’s side are notoriously tough to play against and have conceded just seven league goals, with four of those coming in the 4-4 draw against Inter.
