O Jogo: Milan send scout to watch Vitória Guimarães winger

By Ben Dixon -

Recently, AC Milan have focused on bringing in younger talent to develop, either for profit or for a route into the senior side, and it seems as though they could have found a new gem to bring to the club.

Portuguese newspaper O JOGO have reported that Milan sent a scout to watch Vitória Guimarães’ fixture against Arouca last weekend to watch winger Jota Silva.

The 24-year-old has piqued the interest of clubs across Europe this season with his goal contribution record – eight goals and four assists, including a goal in the game that the Rossoneri scout oversaw.

He is currently valued at €4million on Transfermarkt, and he has a release clause of €20m. However, there is a chance that the Diavolo could land the winger for less than this.

The report suggests that the Portuguese club has a ‘weak financial situation’ that makes January sales more likely, but in regards to Silva, they are staying resolute.

Ideally, they would like to keep the 24-year-old until the end of the season. However, if an offer deemed too good to turn down arrives, he could leave in the upcoming weeks.

Given that OGC Nice have already sent a bid for him, Milan may have to act quickly – and with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Toulouse, Nantes, Villarreal and Atalanta all interested in the winger, there may be a need to act before others have a chance to.

  1. Cheap deals doesn’t improve the squad. They make the team look more mediocre team that really be satisfied with no Trophy/ies without wanted to fight for any trophies and say thanks for cl Spot that’s very sad truth to know

    1. Leao and Pulisic were cheap deals, same goes for Giroud, hell the old Milan squad was built entirely on cheap deals and they won 2 Champions League titles. You must be new to football if you think overpaying for players fixes things, go ask Man United how that’s worked out for them.

      1. Not exactly. It was also built with targeted market rate signings. Nesta (31m), Shevchenko (23.9m), Inzaghi (36.2m), Seedorf (22.5m), etc. And remember these are 1999-2002 prices, so with inflation Seedorf, for example, would be 36.1m today, Inzaghi would be 59.3m, Nesta would be 49.8m and Shevchenko would be 41.1m. Nesta and Seedorf arrived in the same summer. Can you imagine us spending ~85.9m on two players in one summer now? Only if we sell first…

        1. True! And they were big names. Every signing was a highly prized player with a good track record. Nesta was Lazio’s captain, Seedorf already a multiple UCL winner and Sheva destroyed Barca in Europe was arguably the hottest young striker talent on the continent.

I remember as a kid being so excited by every signing. But in fairness we can’t expect that now as back then, Berlusconi’s wealth meant we could spend at least equal to the other big clubs of the era. Nowadays a midtable PL side has more financial clout than us, never mind the uber rich Saudis. The game has changed and we trying to adapt

          1. Berlusconi also sold buddy, did you forget, Edgar Davids, Patrick Vieira, Patrick Kluivert, Roberto Ayala, Marcel Desailly, Michael Reiziger, were all Milan players sold on for a nice profit, and we didn’t pay a cent for most of them.

        2. Key players sure, but you need squad players along with the stars and ones to develop and move on, Ambrosini €2m, Reiziger free, Edgar Davids free, Abbiati €1.6m, Jens Lehmann 4m,Roberto Ayala 7.5m, Kluivert Free, Maurizio Ganz 500k, Christian Ziege 5m, Dida 1.4m, Gattuso 8m, Serginho 8m, Taribo West 2.5m, Jon Dahl Tomasson Free, Rivaldo Free, Dario Simic 5m, Kaka 8m, Cafu Free, Pancaro Free, Stam 10m, Vieri Free, Vogel Free, Jankulovski 8m, and a host of other players came for very little, ans we sold them on for big bucks or they became staples in the line up, hell we brought Abate back for 2.5m, Huntelaar in for 15m. Not always about keeping these players, but recognizing the talent and selling them on.

    1. Hes Portuguese for starters 😉

but yeah agreed not a big name, we are having to shop at discount stores especially given the UCL group stage elimination
