AC Milan have chosen Ruben Amorim as the man that they want to lead them into a new era, after much deliberation and many rumours.

In the end, Amorim surpassed the competition of Matthias Jaissle and has become the next Rossoneri coach. He is hoping to do better than his two compatriots, with the Rossoneri having had bad recent experiences with Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceição.

At 41, Amorim represents a precise choice, although very delayed in arriving. He is young coach, with modern ideas and a well-defined tactical identity, a coach who in his still short career has had very high peaks at Sporting Lisbon, but also a vertical collapse on the Manchester United bench.

Which Ruben?

Amorim accepted the conditions proposed by Milan quickly and would be ready to start a new adventure in Serie A. Speaking of which, if you want to get ahead of the game and see the odds for next season, check out bizbet.

On the table for the former Sporting CP boss was a two-year contract with the option for another season, a formula already used by the Rossoneri in the past. The difference with respect to the agreement proposed to Massimiliano Allegri would be above all economic.

For Amorim it is a salary of around €3.5m net per season plus bonuses, which he accepted. It is a choice that would confirm Milan’s willingness to focus on an international profile, but at the same time financially sustainable.

The arrival of Amorim inevitably divides the fans. On the one hand there are those who remember his excellent work at Sporting, where he built a competitive team, valued young talents and imposed a recognisable brand of football.

On the other hand, there are still doubts related to his ill-fated spell at Manchester United, which ended without the expected results and with various difficulties in managing a complex and high-pressure environment like Old Trafford.

It is the normal debate that accompanies every important choice: especially in summer football, when expectations, enthusiasm and skepticism often travel on the same track. Beyond the technical evaluations, the central point will be above all one: the club will have to really believe in Amorim.

In recent years, Milan have changed the leadership several times without being able to guarantee the necessary time and support to the chosen coach. First Fonseca, then Conceição, finally Allegri: both were presented as convinced solutions, but the project did not see things through.

It will not be enough to present Amorim as the new man of the turning point: Milan need a clear strategy, patience and support that goes beyond the first months of difficulty. Every coach needs time, but above all a club ready to protect his work.

Fans can choose whether to trust immediately or wait. They may have doubts after Manchester or enthusiasm thinking about Sporting. Let’s see what the summer mercato and the field brings.
