Di Marzio: Offer, demand and release clause – the latest on Bennacer negotiations

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in negotiations with Ismael Bennacer over the extension of his deal and are looking to close matters quickly.

Gianluca Di Marzio has offered an update on the Algerian midfielder, stating that the parties have entered into negotiations. There was a meeting on Wednesday afternoon in which the Rossoneri management discussed a new offer with the player’s entourage, assisted by Enzo Raiola.

Bennacer – who currently earns around €1.6m net per season – would like a salary of around €4m, while Milan are only willing to get close to that figure with the inclusion of some bonuses linked to the Champions League. Given Theo Hernandez’s salary, Milan do not want to go any higher.

The distance between the parties is not a huge gap, and an update is expected shortly. In the new agreement there should still be a release clause – one currently set at €50m – but the amount of the future clause is still to be discussed and defined.
