AC Milan have officially announced that defender Sergiño Dest has joined on loan from FC Barcelona with an option to buy.
A statement on the official website Milan have confirmed that Dest has joined the Rossoneri on an initial loan deal from the Catalan side that could become permanent via an option to buy next season.
Dest came through the youth ranks at Ajax in his native Netherlands and made his first-team debut for the Amsterdam side 2019, making 38 appearances for the Eredivisie side and winning a Dutch Supercup.
He joined Barcelona in 2020 where he racked up 72 appearances and scored two goals, winning the Spanish Cup before ultimately falling out of favour.
He has 17 appearances and 3 goals for the USA national team who he chose to represent over his birth country the Netherlands, winning the Concacaf Nations League 2019-20.
Dest will arrive to provide cover in the right-back role after the injury sustained by Alessandro Florenzi in the midweek draw against Sassuolo.

Besides, this is a relatively low risk – high reward move. His salary is high for a backup, but given his age and potential he could end up being redeemed for a reasonable price. If he proves to be inadequate, then he gets sent back costing Milan only his salary for the year. Worth taking a close look at this player for 4 million euros.
Put it this way a 2 mil salary and a 1.8m loan fee…sound more palatable? If we want to take him next year we will only do so by walking him back on his salary and probably asking for a discount from barca. I feel confident we are well stocked in most areas now. Looking forward to seeing what they can all do and maybe a gem or two amongst them.
No need to complain about this deal, he is the type of player we actually need at RB, I don’t see Calabria or Florenzi sitting Dest out if he can maintain his fitness.
I was at CASA MILAN today to facilitate this transfer! Dest has agreed to give you a part of his salary per month, to make this transfer possible.. His actual salary is €2.5M!

Forget about Calabria (although i think he is better than Cala); but Messias and Saele are both TERRIBLE and he will come in and give us an instant HUGE improvement at RW.
Exactly, finally a decent RW. Nobody on the right side can put in a decent cross for us except Florenzi who’s now injured. Calabria is good defensively but not great in attack. Lord Saladmaker should never start again and even Messias should be benched for Dest.
