Official: Ignazio Abate renews contract as Milan Primavera head coach

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have officially confirmed that Ignazio Abate has extended his contract as the Primavera head coach for another season.

As the club website confirms, Abate has extended his contract as head coach of the Primavera (U19) men’s team until 30 June 2024, with his previous deal having been set to expire at the end of the month.

It was an entertaining campaign for the youth side in 2022-23 as they were in a relegation battle in the league until they managed to pull away from the play-off zone in the final few games of the season.

However, the highlight certainly came in European competition. Milan finished top of a group containing RB Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League group stages.

They then beat FC Rukh Lviv and Atletico Madrid in the knockout stages en-route to the semi-finals, where they lost to an older and more physical Hajduk Split side.

  1. I saw them put Happy Birthday to Maldini on their YouTube channel but not on the official website, comments were hilarious as expected. But they put Selemakers birthday up the day after. It was so weird the contrast
