AC Milan have announced that Milan Futuro star Mattia Sandri has been sold to Crotone in a permanent deal.

It has already been a summer of overhaul for the Futuro, who suffered relegation to Serie D after a difficult debut season in Serie C. This has understandably led to some big changes in personnel, in an attempt to reboot the project.

Sandri departs

A statement on the Milan official website reads: “AC Milan announces the permanent transfer of Mattia Sandri to F.C. Crotone. The Club thanks Mattia for his professionalism and wishes him all the best for both his personal and professional future.”

The midfielder was one of the big signings for the Futuro, joining from Sestri Levante. He played a crucial role throughout the season despite the relegation with two goals and six assists, standing out among a struggling squad.

Crotone meanwhile have published their own statement: “Crotone Football Club is pleased to announce the permanent acquisition of the registration rights of footballer Mattia Sandri from AC Milan.

“Sandri, born in 2001, originally from Saluzzo, grew up in the Torino youth team and then wore the shirts of Potenza, Rimini, Sestri Levante and Milan Futuro for a total of 140 appearances and 9 goals in Serie C.”

  1. Its pushing it a bit to call him a futuro star. The guy is 24 and joined last season on a free transfer. If anything he was just brought in to add some experience and for us to live up to the quotas for the u23 team.
