Official: Pioli names 22-man squad for Torino game – Ballo-Toure on list of eight absentees

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has named his official squad for tonight’s game against Torino at the San Siro, and there is another absentee.

There are still eight injury problems for Pioli to deal with as he continues to face an intense part of the fixture list with depleted depth. Goalkeepers Mike Maignan and Alessandro Plizzari are expected to miss a couple more months after their respective surgeries.

Alessandro Florenzi could be back at the weekend but has not been called up, while Samu Castillejo is out with a muscle problem he sustained on Saturday night. Ante Rebic has still not disposed of his ankle issue, Brahim Diaz only tested negative for Covid this morning and Junior Messias has a muscle problem.

The main news is that Fode Ballo-Toure joins the list of injured players after he received a nasty stamp from Soriano against Bologna that earned the midfielder a red card. Below are the 22 players that Pioli has called up for the game, as confirmed by the official website

Goalkeepers: Jungdal, Mirante, Tătărușanu.

Defenders: Calabria, Conti, Gabbia, Hernández, Kalulu, Kjær, Romagnoli, Tomori.

Midfielders: Bakayoko, Bennacer, Kessie, Krunić, Saelemaekers, Tonali.

Forwards: Giroud, Ibrahimović, Leão, Maldini, Pellegri.

  1. Strong squad even with many injuries. The midfield in particular is solid. Just a quality playmaker is missing. Kessie-Tonali double pivot with Bennacer as AM would be better. Krunic should be an option from the bench along with Bakayoko as DM option.

  2. I hope Jungdal can get some game time..Tatarusanu can do any build up play..hw abt Gambling on Jungdal? Also Conti should play at RB and move Calabria to LB
