Ordine reveals what ‘reputable sources’ have said regarding Milan sale rumours

Franco Ordine does not believe that there is any substance behind the rumours Gerry Cardinale could sell AC Milan to the Steinbrenner family.

Pellegatti spoke in a YouTube video published on Wednesday and he revealed the possibility that RedBird Capital could offload Milan to a group that they know very well from previous dealings: Yankees Global Enterprises.

We received denials from sources close to the ownership group, but it is worth mentioning that the synergy between Milan and the New York Yankees is common knowledge. From merchandise ranges to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first pitch, there have certainly been attempts to bring the iconic clubs closer.

Ordine published his weekly column for MilanNews in which he spoke about the need to get behind Massimiliano Allegri’s team, but the final part was dedicated to what his colleague Pellegatti said.

“Carlo Pellegatti has launched a rumour from the US that Cardinale is in discussions with the Steinbrenner family, owners of the New York Yankees, regarding a possible sale of AC Milan.

“Reputable sources have firmly denied this. I’ll make a promise on this matter based on past experience (remember Arnualt being tipped as a sure-fire owner by some national newspaper?): I’ll only discuss it once I’ve read the official announcement from Gerry Cardinale.”

  1. mmm but common sense says it looks like they’re setting up the club for a big sale. We’ve all been saying it before this rumor. So maybe they won’t be selling to the Steinbrenner’s but it looks like they’re creating some “false interest” to boost the value for other interested buyers. You don’t do all that business in the summer if you’re not looking to maximize your company’s value. For those that know about M&A it significantly improves their EBITDA and it allows them to use a higher multiplication factor which increases the amount they can ask for in the sale.

  2. Cardinale actually out? Love it.

    Steinbrenner family? No thanks.

Wish a Milan legend could find an investment consortium. A number of minority owners who come together as a board and run this great club as it deserves to be run.

  3. We can see the club has been profitable every year sonce they took over. That says they aren’t really puttimg money in the team, just recycling assets. We finished this window with a surplus. So inherently, Redbird is just a proxy or decoy for Elliott in the meantime that they find someone who can buy at a large profit. Haven’t renewed our best players or sold them off. This group is a temporary care taker. A real ownership group, interested in a football club would never let the players we had go and fail to put a dime of our their pocket into the team over this time frame.

We had opportunities to sign very good players in defense and upfront at nominal costs when looking at the value proposition for the dollar to performance ratio and failed. Vlahovic was ready at a discount price. A sure fire goal scorer costs what he costs. We bought a medium level player in De Winter, a prospect with 3 pro games played, a young unknown RB from the swiss league and an injury ridden, slow, incapable washed up Royal on the left. So all players who were cheaper than those on the book and are unproven.
