CorSport: Investcorp dream of signing Napoli star Osimhen to boost Milan’s attack

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli this summer but a huge asking price has been set, according to a report.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Investcorp have big plans for the summer market and they know that a new centre-forward for the future is needed, with Osimhen now in the sights as a big-name target.

Napoli value Osimhen at €110m which is a huge amount for a 24-year-old striker who has nevertheless shown that he can do very well in Serie A, but the paper adds that Manchester United are on pole while Arsenal and Newcastle are also keen.

The transfer of ownership to Investcorp from Elliott Management has to happen before we learn more precise details about the market strategy they will deploy, but a signing of the magnitude of Osimhen would certainly get fans believing that something special is coming.

  1. Now media just throw all player name to be AC Milan target next season. Im waiting media put king Harry maguire and king Martin braithwhite as AC Milan target

  2. That is a big price tag; however, i do LOVE Osimhen. I remember when I first saw him in the U17 World Cup in Chile playing for Nigeria and he won the Golden Boot of that tournament and was best player in tournament leading them to the final vs Mali. I knew then already that he would be a great player.
He is fun to watch; he’s a smart player with pace and can score in various different ways and he will only get better and better IMO. He is more of a definite than Nunez who is more of an unknown in terms of how he will do in Serie A (as bb correctly pointed out, the Portuguese league doesn’t have the same competition as Serie A).

  3. yes — agree… that is why my first words were “that is a big price tag”

Teams always say a big number at first but if they are willing to part ways, they’ll negotiate down. Not sure how low Napoli might be willing to go. Perhaps they really aren’t interested in letting go of him at all (I wouldn’t if I was them) and this is their way of telling all of the many admirers who are inquiring about him to just give up trying. We sort of did the same thing with Theo.

  4. What has Osimhen done in Italy the last 2 seasons that made his price go from 80 mil, reportedly how much Napoli paid for him, to 110 mil? He has scored 10 goals 1st season, 12 this season.
Zlatan ,at 40, has scored 23 goals over the last 2 years in 10 less games, with players like Brahim, messias , saelemakers around him. Look at the offensive talent around Osimhen, all of their wingers and attacking midfielders will be immediate starters at Milan.
The guy has been absolute bust .
He works hard during games, but his whole game is based on pace, very little skill on the ball and creates nothing on his own.
If Nunez can be had for around 60 mil, give me Nunez. He performed very well in the UCL , not just the Portuguese league

  5. If we can’t get Scamacca I’d rather get Tammy Abraham than Osimhen. As some other posters mention Osimhen seems injury prone, and for that price we need way more guarantees.

  6. Osimhen does way more than just score goals. The way he brings his teammates into the play, his work rate, his decision making are all second to none. He is also not a player who will dive, act, and roll on the floor…he gets fouled, he gets up and just looks to how to punish the defense.
If Milan fans don’t see his value, then just wait until Inter signs him…I’m sure his value would be clearer at that point. HAHAHAHAHAHA

    1. All of Osimhen qualities you mentioned and the 10 goals a season, Milan can get from a player worth 20 mil or even a player on a free transfer. If you spend 80 or 110 mil on a striker than you expect him to score 25-30 goals a season. You dont need to spend a fortune for a player that doesn’t complain when fouled

  7. Victor is a great potential and I would love to have him in the Milan Squad though I doubt that price tag of 100m + cos he’s not worth it.. I prefer him to Nunez and Scamacca.
And the Makedon saying Zlatan scored more than him in the last two years.. With games less.. U have forgotten that Oshimen was injured in his first season and this season his goals would have gotten to 19 if only all the penalties he won for Napoli wasn’t given and converted by Insigne.. For crying out loud that guy is good, very good, admit it.. And he has the passion to play, to make sacrifice for the team…He has potentials and if harness properly will be a fierce goal poacher in Seria A. Just that I don’t believe the news bcos Napoli can’t see someone like him to a rival club.

    1. Bro u can’t use injuries as an excuse to defend Osimhen scoring less goals than Zlatan. Zlatan is 40 and can’t play a game without being injured for a month. Like I said Osimhen with his injuries has still played in more games than Zlatan and still scored less goals with better support talent around him and being 20 years younger than Zlatan.

    2. He is not real number 9 , you cannot expect him to score goal more than 15 every season . His play style similar to leao based on Pace, speed, technique while Darwin or Haaland or Dusan based on positioning ( more to be poacher type) . Victor not even worth 80m euro ( price that Napoli pay to Lille) . I hope we secure quality RW and AMF first to feed striker then we can sign quality striker that not over price

  8. Osimhem is a great pressing player, with physical ability that match young ibra. but he is not a number 9 player that scores every game. for milan i would prefer other players

  9. If you tell me that osimhem doesn’t worth a 110mil I will agree with you but that he’s not a good player and injury prone and score less goals I don’t believe that, there is no striker of his Calibre current at Milan, when you talk about team work and passion he’s there, when you talk about hard work and given all he’s there, if we have him in Milan it’s a boost to our forward, and there will be competition.
