Parma coach Fabio Pecchia has called the current AC Milan squad ‘complete’ but was not totally pessimistic about his team’s chances of getting a result on Saturday evening.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday (via Radio Rossonera), Pecchia assessed the Gialloblu’s chances of getting all three points at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
It is clear that the occasion of hosting Milan in Parma will be a lot for Pecchia as he explained he has waited two years to be in charge of a game like this one.
“We’ve worked over the last two years to play this type of match and face off against these teams, it’s a match to be played with joy,” Pecchia said.
Talking about the first weekend of the season in which Milan could only manage a 2-2 draw with Torino, Pecchia explained that there is not a huge amount for his team to read into that match.
“Angry after the draw? It can be seen in two ways… They were losing and in the final minutes they almost won it, this is a demonstration of the strength of the team. They can miss one or two players, Milan’s value remains very high, they have a complete squad,” he said.
He knows that his team will have to work very hard to get all three points from Saturday’s match and thinks that teamwork is the most important thing.
“We have to help each other, beyond the tactics we have to work together as a team, in front of us we have champions. When you play these matches they push you towards your limits,” Pecchia explained.
In terms of who he picked out as the really dangerous players in Milan’s squad, it is the left-hand side of Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez that sparks the most fear.
“Theo and Leao is one of the strongest flanks around in terms of quality, physicality and talent. You have to take this into account, Coulibaly will have to work very well. He will have a good test,” he said.
Fair bit of pressure on this one, we need to win and win well. Lineup looks good so far although I’m yet to be convinced by Ruben in the pivot. Very much looking forward to Okafor as CF
