Despite some of the reports circulating in recent days, AC Milan have no plans to offload Santiago Gimenez after just a few months.

Gimenez was the big signing of the winter transfer window, with Milan shelling out €32m plus €3m in bonuses to snatch him from Feyenoord. He racked up six goals and three assists, but struggled for starts towards the end of the season, leading to rumours of a potentially uncertain future.
There are widespread reports talking about Milan being engaged in the search for a top-level striker like Dusan Vlahovic or Mateo Retegui, someone who could even come in and be the new established starter.
Gimenez to be given time
The first few months were uphill, but now Gimenez wants to show Milan what he is made of, according to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress). The Mexican is coming off a mixed second half of the season with the Rossoneri, but with various mitigating circumstances.
The section is titled: ‘Gimenez, three months to sell his soul to the Devil. No offer has arrived, Allegri is taking his time to evaluate the Mexican. He hasn’t convinced 100%, the club will give him a chance. They’ll decide in January’.
Gimenez made 19 appearances and scored six goals, numbers that Massimiliano Allegri wants to help improve. The coach is eagerly awaiting the 23-year-old because he appreciates his characteristics.
However, he wants to put him in competition with another top-level striker, so as to keep the levels high. Unless there are unforeseen developments, the club will continue to focus on him and will not try to find solutions for his exit.
