AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli is closing in on joining Lazio on a free transfer when his contract expires, according to a report.
Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia writes how the ‘soap opera’ that dates back to the first contacts nine months ago now seems to be nearing a conclusion because Lazio have decided that they are going to try and close the deal with Romagnoli regardless of Francesco Acerbi’s future.
In the next few days there could be important developments, as Lazio are ready to improve their offer and guarantee the €3m net per season (€2.5m had been offered previously) to get Maurizio Sarri the defender he wants.
After so much uncertainty about the future of the Milan captain and where he might play next season, it seems as though a move to his boyhood club is now becoming more and more likely, though an agreement must still be found between the parties.
