Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has suggested that AC Milan should look into bringing Yunus Musah back as a deputy for the right side.
After a summer spent with an uncertain fate as several midfielders arrived, Musah headed to Atalanta on a €4m loan with €25m option to buy. Yet, the USA international is struggling to find playing time, and the change of head coach does not appear to have transformed his fortunes.

Musah has played just six league games (145 minutes in total, 90 of which were for Milan against Lecce). He has four Champions League appearances, and one in the Coppa Italia. Excluding the 114 minutes he played under Massimiliano Allegri, he has only played 200 minutes this season.
Pellegatti took to his YouTube channel to share his thoughts ahead of tonight’s match between Torino and Milan, and as part of that also revealed an idea he has come up with for the right wing-back role.
“I’ll tell you right away that my answer is yes. Would you take a player who is currently out of the Atalanta project? So would you rush Musah back as an alternative to Saelemaekers?
“I repeat. My answer is yes, he never plays in Bergamo. I think someone like Yunus, I repeat as a back-up for Alexis, would give me peace of mind…”
It is a better option than buying another RWB that might or might now work. We don’t need 4 or 5 of them next season. It might actually review some interest in Musah so he can be sold next summer. I honestly doubt Tare is capable of pulling even this off, he’ll stay there until the summer and Milan will get offers of 10M that they’ll be forced to accept or leave him at Milan for 26/27.

I think a back up is reasonable. Who else plays there? Just Tomori, so you’d need De Winter to play as the 3rd cb which means one starter is playing in a weaker role for him and a back up is playing as a starter. It’d be more efficient and effective to just have a standard back up for the RWB role. With that logic, Musah coming back would make sense. Am I forgetting someone? Who is the real back up RWB?

oooo ya lol that’s right. Naw, he can’t play any meaningful games as a starter. The fact that I didn’t remember him should speak volumes. He’s a long ways off from being a viable back up to play a full 90 minutes. If salad gets hurt, we’re in for a tough situation. Musah would at least be stable back there.
No, its not reasonable. He’s played that position alongside cm, cdm, cam, rm, rw. He doesn’t have attributes to be playing in Europe and he has proved that with Valencia in Spain, Milan and now Atlanta that don’t even want to play him and thats probably for the best.

It worked every time he was tried there. It worked against Real Madrid and Milan shut down Vini Jr. it worked against Juventus in the Coppa Italia and he setup the winning goal. I can name more games where it worked when Musah played as RWB and all of the games ended in a win or draw but not a loss.
Yeah you should probably go back and check your stats because last time i checked we ended up in 8th place last season with him playing rwb, cm, cdm, cam, rm, rw so idk what your on about the games ending in win or draw.
Musah has the physical qualities to play rwb, but he’s unrefined technically. It’s an interesting idea if Allegri could bring out the best in Musah. Otherwise we only have athekame as a backup, who is still an unknown in terms of his ability to contribute as a starter.
Musah played under 3 coaches in 2 years for milan. Not one could get the best out of him in every single position he was put in. Rm, rw, rwb, CM, cdm, CAM. Allegri tried him out in pre season and he didn’t like his style of play because he noticed that musah isn’t up to the standard for milan. As he is also proving that in Atlanta as well. He is not qualified for high quality futbol leagues. He should try Portugal league or Netherlands. Same thing has happened to Dest. He tried his luck in Spain didn’t work out, he came to milan on loan and didn’t work either. He went back to psv and is now thriving under them again. So musah should probably do the same.
I’d rather have a 15-year-old primavera debutant on the pitch than watch this trainwreck wrecking us from the 1st place back to 8th. It’s his superpower.

We all want Maldini back but this american management has tainted any possible return of him. So we’re stuck with whoever else they in appoint charge to take the fall for the failure.
It’s not a bad idea. He also provides depth in midfield, which we don’t need at the moment, but might need at some point when the injury bug hits the midfield. Who else can back up Saladmaker? RLC has played out there before.
I personally think the project of turning Musah into a RWB is worthwhile. He looked pretty good out there in a Milan shirt. Where he gets mixed up is when he has to do too much thinking in the middle of the park. I actually think he could be world class out on the right. His 1v1 marking skills are quite good and he’s good enough going forward. What he does NOT do well is the WB to WB long diagonal ball. His long passing is not good at all. Maybe that would be unnecessary.
The problem here (if there is one) is on the business side. People are still valuing him based on potential to be something else. He really needs to play. And he’s not going to play much if Saladmaker continues his fine form. If the team is in the Scudetto mix in January, I think we need a better 9 and RWB.
