Pioli drops strong hint on Ibrahimovic’s future and names what he likes most about working at Milan

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli seems to have dropped a very strong suggestion that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is open to extending his stay at the club beyond June.

The Swede has missed four matches since he limped off during the first half of the 0-0 draw against Juventus on January 23 and Achilles discomfort will keep him out of tomorrow’s game against Udinese.

The next few months will be decisive for understanding what his future will hold, because despite the fact Ibrahimovic has repeatedly stressed a desire to keep playing, his body is perhaps giving him other signs. However, he has a desire to be at the World Cup with Sweden if they win their two play-off rounds.

Pioli spoke to the media on the eve of tomorrow’s game against Udinese about a variety of different topics, and he was asked about his thoughts on the future of the Swede with his comments transcribed by MilanNews.

“It is important what Zlatan thinks first of all. As I know him, I think he wants to continue. His condition is improving, perhaps slower than we thought, but he is better,” he said.

He was also asked what he likes most about working at Milan: “I have always felt protected and appreciated. I feel at ease and this allows me to work at my best.”

On what he has that Simone Inzaghi and Luciano Spalletti don’t: “Pioli has Milan. I have so much confidence in my players that everything is possible with them.”
