MN: Pioli makes Milan’s ambition to reach the next level clear – “It is time to start harvesting”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been on a fruitful journey under Stefano Pioli’s tenure but there is an obvious next step that must be taken in the project, a report claims.

MilanNews writes how Pioli basically declared the above during his pre-match press conference: “We have made an extraordinary journey in the last two and a half years, but what matters will be what we do from tomorrow onwards. We can do better than in the last two games. We have sown a lot, it is time to start harvesting.”

There has been 30 months of excellent work that have also brought the return of the Rossoneri to the Champions League after 7 long years, and it is sometimes important to reflect and appreciate the work done by the head coach, his staff, the management and the squad.

The target must always be to improve, and there are certainly some areas where Pioli knows his team can do better, as shown by the fact they led in the Salernitana and Udinese games but didn’t win either.

“The team does well when it is strong, but we have to grow also in the management of situations, especially when the opponents are waiting for us. We have to make the ball travel more. The numbers never lie, we have had difficulties. We have not been able to close the games and in the same way we have not been able to control and command certain matches,” he said.

Pioli has without a doubt been one of the main architects of Milan’s return to fighting for trophies, and the feeling is that the next step is to win one, to put the seal on the way that the project is heading.
