GdS: Kjaer, Calabria and formation – Pioli ponders major changes for the derby

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is already thinking of making some key changes to the starting line-up for the derby against Inter on Sunday, a report claims.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Pioli spoke after the 5-2 hammering at the hands of Sassuolo about the need to change something tactically, and that change could come as early as the first minute of the derby against Inter next weekend.

The Rossoneri coach is expected to switch to either a 4-3-3 formation or a 4-3-1-2, and he would put Simon Kjaer back in the centre-back pairing, even if a lot will depend on Fikayo Tomori’s condition and how his hip is feeling.

Brahim Diaz could re-enter the attack after Charles De Ketelaere’s disappointing performance against the Neroverdi while captain Davide Calabria is at more risk than usual, having been one of the worst on the field in the last few games.

  1. Actually thought CDK was our best player yesterday.
Brain fart to bring him off at HT.
All agreed we need a new captain and Kjaer is our man..

  2. He must play with 3 in defence, with theo and dest more oriented in defence. Kjaer Kalulu Tomori, Theo Dest, Tonali, Bennacer, Krunic and Giroud Rebic.

  3. Messias is the real deal lollll compare him with Breardy and you will no how much the market needs software update
The bad form of Calabria because of his cover to the failure to this most shitty Brazilian player I have ever seen

CKD, Diaz, and Adli compare then with Dybala or De Maria

Rebic, Krunic, Pobega, Girud, Lazetic, Torrie convinced redundancy

Gabia and 2 goalkeepers are handicapped physically and mentally but still working for dying team

Pioli problem is clear unable to creat his own system neither able to break opponent playing system
Pioli needs to go his below expectation of Milan demand as his personality is weak also he is famous of killing young talents Hauge Salesmakers CKD Diaz Colombo and lazteic

  4. Milan won virtually all games absent Calabria with kakulu playing at rb position last season. The defence then was a joy to watch seeing how compact and efficient it was. Pioli should stop with this Italian Favouritism nonsense and play whosoever is tactically fit to play the rb position. With the current defensive frailties and judging how Calabria has been weak and lacking team play balance, he shouldn’t start games in a long time. Pioli needs to grow balls and stop been petty.

  5. 4-3-1-2 is the way to go.

It may not work perfectly against Inter – but we cant do worst than conceding 5 against Sassuolo…

  6. I think Pioli should start believing in cdk and adli and also bench tatarusanu he is the worse Milan has ever had as a goal keeper. Pioli must change his style of play tooo

  7. The problem with the 4-3-3 is that we don’t have 3 good Midfielders. Honestly, we don’t even have 2 as Tonali is completely useless. Calabria should never start again. The overrated Italian players are what’s dragging this team down.

  8. Wait. CDK was the (arguably) best player in the last match for Milan. How exactly is he now the worst? Pioli may the wrong substitution, again, but that’s aside from the point.

  9. I believe Pioli has unofficially thrown in the towel.
He has no idea what he is doing

Inter will score 5 goals against Pioli and send him the the exit door at AC Milan

Dijour vu my friends, history repeats itself.
The same thing happened to Pioli at Inter.
