PM: Maldini pondering player-plus-cash offer to replace Castillejo with €32m winger

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has decided that an upgrade is needed on the right wing and his target is locked in, a report claims.

According to PianetaMilan, the right side of Milan’s attack has been identified as a weakness given that Samu Castillejo is failing to offer anything in terms of attacking production on a consistent basis.

It is true that the start of the season was not easy for him and he has struggled with injuries, but compared to the likes of Rafael Leao, Ante Rebic, Hakan Calhanoglu and even now Brahim Diaz, it would be fair to say the Spaniard appears to be a weak link, especially having lost the starting spot to Alexis Saelemaekers.

The report claims that Castillejo could in fact leave in January if an offer of at least €13million arrives and that Marseille winger Florian Thauvin could arrive in place of the former Villarreal man.

The Frenchman is on an expiring contract with the Ligue 1 club, but they are asking for €32m and that is why an exchange deal of Castillejo plus cash cannot be ruled out.
