PM: Milan consider prolific winger with bargain price as alternative to Chiesa – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not yet made an offer for Marseille winger Florian Thauvin but are tempted having been offered him by intermediaries.

That is according to PianetaMilan, who claim that Marseille would ask for just €15m for a player who has been a fantastic performer for them since his arrival back in Ligue 1 and has started the season in red hot form, with two goals and two assists in five league games.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were offered Thauvin by intermediaries and have taken time to reflect while asking for more information, but they are teased by the Frenchman.

There has been no offer and the interest is described as being ‘in an embryonic phase’, but he represents a genuine alternative to other targets such as Federico Chiesa of Fiorentina and Luka Jovic of Real Madrid.

Thauvin’s contract with the French club will expire on 30 June 2021, so from next summer he will be available on a free transfer.

It is possible therefore that the parties will sit down and seek an agreement at a price lower than the €15m requested by Marseille, who know they are set to lose him for free.

Much will depend on the outcome of tonight’s match against Rio Ave: progress to the group stage of the Europa League could bring an extra budget of €15m, which added to the €20m already in the Rossoneri’s pockets from Paqueta’s sale could be decisive.
