PM: Milan have held several talks with entourage of West Ham defender amid Romagnoli doubts

By Oliver Fisher -

A new idea has emerged as Paolo Maldini prepares for the potential exit of Alessio Romagnoli this summer, according to a report.

As PianetaMilan writes, the Rossoneri decided to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on a permanent basis, investing over €25m on a player who kept Romagnoli out of the starting line-up for most of the second half of last season. That, plus the fact his contract expires in 2022, means that Romagnoli could be sold this summer.

At the moment there do not seem to be any big offers for Romagnoli, but it is clear that a sizeable bid could change the picture so the Rossoneri management are starting to think about some possible replacements.

That is why Milan have carried out a survey in recent weeks for Issa Diop of West Ham, as per the report, who was considered a top talent Toulouse but in the Premier League he has had some difficulties after initially impressing.

Diop could arrive regardless of Romagnoli’s fate too, and Milan ‘have already had several contacts with the player’s entourage’. A possible offer to West Ham could be made that would be a loan with the option to buy.
