AC Milan are interested in signing Yari Verschaeren from Anderlecht, a report claims, and he has received glowing praise from a compatriot.
Verschaeren is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Anderlecht and the Belgium national team and is gaining a reputation as one of the rising stars of football in his country. The 19-year-old has already registered 4 goals and 3 assists in 14 games in the Jupiler Pro League this year.
PianetaMilan are reporting that the Rossoneri are keen on signing Verschaeren as the latest potential import from the Brussels-based club after Alexis Saelemaekers. They spoke to Dieter Van Thornout – a former striker for Club Brugge, Antwerp, Kilmarnock and Sparta Rotterdam – about the young talent.
Is he ready for the definitive leap in quality and the transition to a big club?
“I know him well, having already seen him in action at the time of the youth national teams, when he was in the Belgium under 16. Yari is a very strong player. Last year he played very well, this year he had a bit of bad luck with injuries. Three weeks ago, however, he returned to the field [he scored the 4-1 goal in the victory over Royal Antwerp on Monday] and is doing well. Yari has the right qualities to make a great career,” he said.
From what we can see he is very good in tight spaces and in putting attackers through on goal with passes. Does he have other advantages?
“Yes, he is devastating in tight spaces. He is a player with good and fast feet, with excellent vision and a great shot, especially from outside the box. If he does not suffer too many injuries, he has a guaranteed future.”
Is he ready for a move to Milan?
“Why not? If the Rossoneri have the opportunity to buy a player with these qualities, they have to do it. Then they can always evaluate in progress and decide whether to keep him or send him on loan to grow. Maybe at Anderlecht. Yari is young. and making an investment in him would be interesting for Milan.”
