Sky: Predicted Milan XI to face Torino – Allegri makes choices with depth eroded again

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has made his decision regarding the team that will take to the field against Torino.

Milan come into the game having had their 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions ended by Lazio on Thursday in the Coppa Italia. They take a 12-game league streak to Torino, but they have won just one of their last 12 games at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Predicted AC Milan XI vs. Torino

In his pre-match press conference, Massimiliano Allegri spoke about the need to dig deep after the defeat and get back on the course for top four qualification. He also confirmed Christian Pulisic is a doubt due to a fever, while Santiago Gimenez, Youssouf Fofana and Zachary Athekame are out.

According to Sky, Allegri will revert to the ‘first choice’ three-man defence of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic in front of the captain and goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The three midfielders are set to be Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot.

The right wing-back should be Alexis Saelemaekers, with Davide Bartesaghi returning on the opposite flank. Up front, Pulisic’s absence and Loftus-Cheek’s use in midfield means Christopher Nkunku will partner Rafael Leao.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Nkunku, Leao.

  1. Guess Frenchie is gonna keep getting the minutes upfront because he needs the minutes… and because Allegri doesn’t have a choice.

  2. Good results for Milan so far this weekend, outside of inter winning,. Hoping for a Napoli-Juventus draw.
Milan has an opportunity to put some distance between themselves and everyone else not named inter. Lets see if they will take advantage of it. I like the lineup considering that Pulisic is unavailable.

  3. Also, people complain about Milan strikers while Juventus signed 2 of the strikers most Milan fans wanted, Openda and David, and even though they are both healthy, Spaletti starts Yildiz as a striker.
So few good strikers in todays football. Nothing but a bunch of overhyped, overrated and overvalued below average strikers.

    1. Well David has more goals and assists than our 2 strikers (Giménez and Nkunku) combined.
Which is really sad in every aspect when you think about it…

      1. They are all trash.
Nkunku was injured, Gimenez is injured while David has been healthy. David makes more money than any Milan player and even with Vlahovic out injured he still sits on the bench.

        1. Great strikers are very expensive and so inevitably end up in the EPL or Real Madrid, PSG, or Bayern. Serie A teams don’t have the money to get these strikers anymore and can only hope to get them while still young and unknown.
Example: Alexander Isak, who went on strike at the beginning of this season, demanding to be transferred to Liverpool, last season’s EPL Champions. Newcastle eventually got
£125million for him, an intra EPL transfer record. Newcastle had paid £63million for him from Real Sociedad.
Isak had scored 54 goals for Newcastle in his 3 seasons there.
This season, he’s scored all of ONE GOAL so far, as Liverpool has foundered, currently in 9th place.
          Newcastle is in 11th place.
So anyway, you see with those sorts of numbers, Milan and the other Serie A teams just can’t compete, not since all the financial scandals were sorted out and FFP went into effect.
Not even for somebody as mediocre to above average as Isak

          1. Real Madrid and PSG are playing Mbappe and Dembele as strikers. They are both natural wingers.
Its not about money, but the lack of strikers you can spend money on.
There are very few good strikers in todays football even if you are a club who have money like EPL, Real Madrid, PSG or Bayern.

          2. Madrid is playing Mbappe as a striker why? Because they have Vinicius and Rodrygo and Mastuonto maybe? Same at PSG. You’ll make up anything to sound right.

    2. And the striker no one in this forum wanted (Hojlund) has netted 2 more today, and is causing Juve all sorts of problems.

      1. What a great assist by Mckinnie on the 2nd goal.
Hojlund was playing vs a defensive line of Kalulu, Kelly and Koopmeiners. Not that hard to cause those 3 stooges all sort of problems.
        Juventus are awful.

        1. Why is no one talking about the best strike in the world right now (Victor Osimhen).

We should have go for him when Napoli rejected him

      1. Even though Pulisic is fit once every 5 games, even though he has played 200 less minutes than Leao this season, he is still more productive than Leao even with Leao taking penalties.
Only a Leao fans can hate Pulisic because they are threatened by him.
BTW only Lautaro has been more productive serie A player than Pulisic since Pulisic “the best signing in football history” put on a Milan jersey.

      2. Yes, I agree with you. Leao isn’t playing for Milan with his heart, he plays as if he is bigger than any other player on the team. He falls easily and give no fight back when being over muscled easily by opposing defenders.

      1. Which one is overhyped? Haaland? Alvarez? Lautaro Martinez? Kane? I mean I can go on but it is ridiculous what some of you people write and agree with. There aren’t good strikers today so Real Madrid has no one to buy. PSG has no one to buy so they are playing Dembele. Let’s ignore that they have Goncalo Ramos but Luis Enrique plays a style of football that doesn’t need a real striker, but fast players. How can you write so stupid things?

    1. The certainly don’t look good…Juve coach has me puzzled…He subs their best player, Yildiz, when Juve needed a bit of Magic. Same vs Milan, I was happy to see the back of Yildiz, but was surprised he was taken off when he was.

  4. The only striker we should be chasing is Osimehn

Put him upfront with Leao and Pulisic and we would be a danger to every team in Europe

    1. Osimhen plays like a vampire who is desperately in need of blood up front. His hunger for goals is second to none, he doesn’t give up and always fight for every ball unlike leao who is good player but lazy to fully show case his full potentials rather than falling easily and laughing like some who has won a billion dollar jackpot.

    2. The crazy thing is that we can actually get Osimhen (set aside his salary) with the money we spent for our attacking department in Gimenez and Nkunku.

  5. Sorta sad ,for the past number of years we have had to check on the line ups before every game, never put the same XI on the pitch from match to match. Not talking one or two players, I an talking half the squad sometimes. Cannot stand Inter however without even looking most of the time can name their starting squad. I tip my hat to Allegri for his results with who knows who on the pitch.

    1. Well in fairness I think Allegri has given the team that.

Barring injury the starting line up is now largely settled. And that is probably leading to results on the pitch.
