AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao seems to want to build some consistency in view of the cup final, as reflected in the expected team to face Genoa.
The chances of finishing much higher than ninth in the league table are pretty low, but Milan must aim to win for two reasons. Firstly because there is an obligation to the fans after such a bad season, and secondly to try build some momentum in view of the Coppa Italia final.
Genoa vs. Milan: predicted starting XIs
Emerson Royal and Luka Jovic are back for Milan, but two more players have entered the treatment room. Tammy Abraham is injured, Conceicao confirmed in his pre-match press conference, while Riccardo Sottil will also miss out.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), the coach should name the same line-up for the fourth time in the last five games. That means Jovic back in to lead the line after missing out against Venezia, flanked by Christian Pulisic to the right and Rafael Leao to the left.
Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders will remain as the midfield double pivot, with Theo Hernandez the left wing-back and Alex Jimenez on the opposite flank. Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic continue to compose the three-man defence ahead of Mike Maignan.
Predicted Milan XI (3-4-3): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Jimenez, Fofana, Reijnders, Hernandez; Pulisic, Jovic, Leao.
Predicted Genoa XI (4-2-3-1): Leali; Sabelli, De Winter, Vasquez, Martin; Frendrup, Masini; Zanoli, Messias, Thorsby; Pinamonti.

Try Lorenzo Torriani for GK
and Davide Bartesaghi for CB
and Musah for RB
Why?
cause it’s Genoa and we won’t get top 4 anyway…
after Bologna and Torino losses our UCL hopes died there…
coppa win can only make this season bearable
This. We won’t even make top 6. Might as well give some of the young talent Serie A minutes. I totally endorse Bartesaghi at LCB, Torriani at GK and Camarda at least off the bench. However, Musah at RB is useless. He’s not an RB and Jimenez should be seeing as much time there as possible, since he could be the future of that position. Musah is not.
Bartesaghi should focus on the Futuro relegation play out.
Did he play enough time for them? He might have the same issue as Camarda. If he does qualify for the play out, then I agree.
