On the eve of AC Milan vs. Red Star Belgrade, we have a good idea of the team that may take to the field tomorrow, however, there are still some decisions to be made.
Paulo Fonseca hinted at some changes to be made in his press conference earlier this afternoon, and it seems that decisions are yet to be made in some areas of the pitch with some ballots still remaining.
Mike Maignan will remain in between the sticks, as will Matteo Gabbia and Malick Thiaw in front of him, with Theo Hernandez remaining on the left flank, as Milan News suggests. However, Davide Calabria should return from the first minute, despite earlier suggestions that Emerson would start.
In midfield, it should not come as a surprise, but Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana will be entrusted with controlling the game with Ruben Loftus-Cheek sitting in front of them.
Rafael Leao will not face competition from Noah Okafor to start – given the Swiss winger is struggling with a back injury. However, there is a decision to be made on the right: Yunus Musah may be slightly preferred currently, but Chukwueze is making an argument for his inclusion.
Then, Alvaro Morata will lead the line.
Probable Milan XI vs. Red Star (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Gabbia, Theo; Fofana, Reijnders; Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.
As always, our full preview for the match is available, covering the team news, key stats and players to watch.

They need Chuk as an attacking outlet with Pulisic not playing.
I also wouldn’t mind seeing Abraham instead of Morata in this one.
absolutely agree on both statements
I would have also tried Musah as RB in the second half if Calabria played badly.
RLC is also extra when we could try Liberalli. And Camarda needs time in those type of games as well.
Barca U-turn started with Cubarsi and Yamal promotions, why are we scared so much to use these gems?!
Agreed.
CDK!!!
That’s how you shoot a penalty.
The right should be Chukueze not Musah. The coach should learn lessons
Nice line up, but Terraciano should be playing instead of Calabria, and Abraham as the striker…
Absolutely nothing about that is nice
Inter absolutely dominated by Bayer Leverkusen. I don’t think they had a single shot on target and barely any shots at all. Even Milan played better in Leverkusen than Inter.
Milan 2 losses in the UCL came vs the 1st and 2nd place teams in the standings.
If they play like they suppose to in the last 3 games, Milan will easily finish in top 8. Very favorable remaining schedule.
Probably stating the obvious but that Leverkusen is a pretty damn strong team. It’s not sure we would have won even with a better coach, players,… (although to be honest, last night I watched Atalanta-Real Madrid).
We have a very favourable schedule but I won’t take it for granted, Girona isn’t bad and we barely won against the weakest team in Europe this year. But if we play as we’re supposed to, we can finish in the top8.
I would say good lineup.
Chukwueze doesn’t have 2 legs. Musah does.
In general, Musah is better everywhere compared to Chuk. He dribbles better also defends.
This Balkan clubs are very provocative and time killers. Once they score, they may sabotage everything and everyone. So better to be careful.
Although I think it would better to play Morata in AM position instead of dead wood RLC and play Abraham in attack.
8-0 win or we won’t make top 8.
Musah can play next to Fofana and run around all over, while Tiji plays AM, giving Chuku the wing. This is just common sense if you insist on playing with a 4231.
What Fonseca see’ in RLC will forever be beyond human comprehension.
Sadly Milan has found a coach that perfectly compliments Cardinale’ “winning is boring” philosophy.
I personally shall be praying for some Arab Royalty in the near future, we have suffered enough.
Remember we are a “Champions League team” (just don’t look at the table when you’re remembering it). So it doesn’t matter who starts, we’ve already won 🇵🇹🥳
I prefer second half let bring out Loftus cheek and bring in musah then musah play double pivot with Fofana then Reijnder shift into the attacking midfield because of his quality and space.
We’re playing at home and we need a statment win. This lineup is very timid and uncreative. Loftus-Cheek is not AM nor a DM while Musah isn’t a RW.
It might be better to start Chukwueze as a RW and put Musah as a RM or RWB to cover that wing. Loftus-Cheek needs to be on the bench.
Or perhaps try a 4-4-2 with Morata and Abraham, Chukwueze and Leao on the wings and a double-pivot of Fofana-Reijnders. But that might be too shallow and not suited enough to stop counters.
