GdS: Probable XIs for Cagliari vs. Milan – Kalulu and Brahim Diaz expected to start

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli should be able to call upon Brahim Diaz for tonight’s game against Cagliari in Sardinia, a report claims.

During his pre-match press conference, Pioli revealed that Brahim had suffered a knock in training and would be evaluated, as would Sandro Tonali who missed a session because he had flu-like symptoms.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Milan up with Mike Maignan in goal protected by a back four from right to left consisting of Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez, meaning captain Alessio Romagnoli would start from the bench.

A double pivot of Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie means that Tonali should get some rest, and that gives Brahim Diaz the chance to start as the playmaker.

Junior Messias should be on the right wing with Rafael Leao on the left and Olivier Giroud is expected to get the nod over Zlatan Ibrahimovic despite also battling a fever earlier in the week.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemakers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Cagliari XI (3-4-2-1): Cragno; Goldaniga, Lovato, Altar; Bellanova, Marin, Grassi, Dalbert; Baselli, Joao Pedro; Pavoletti.
