Christian Pulisic insisted that Mike Maignan was the deserved winner of the MVP award after AC Milan’s derby win over Inter.
Milan got another massive win in a six-point clash, beating their city rivals Inter 1-0 in the Derby della Madonnina. Pulisic got the only goal of the game early in the second half, tucking in a rebound after a Yann Sommer parried Alexis Saelemaekers’ shot.

In truth, though, the stand-out performance and the match-winner was really Maignan. He made an amazing save in the first half to deny Lautaro Martinez, and then inside the final 20 minutes he kept out Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty to preserve the clean sheet and the lead.
Pulisic spoke to DAZN after the full-time whistle to offer his instant reaction to what was another brilliant result against a rival at the top of the table. MilanNews transcribed the American’s words.
Is Maignan a worthy Player of the Match?
“Yes, Mike is the MVP, 100%. I only scored an easy goal, he made maybe 10 saves.”

Your goal was important though…
“It’s my job, I have to score. I was in the right place at the right time.”
Milan seem to do better in more high-profile games this season…
“We play well against the big teams, but we need to have this level when we play against the others too.”

do whatever you have to do in order to renew his contract. Him and mike. Give them the same salary or close to Leao
The contract currently lasts until 2027 but the club has an option to just extend it a year more as its implemented within the contract. They seem to want to extend it further but I would be too nervous that he would leave next summer as it all seems to come down to just negotiating a new deal if they want to go beyond 2028.
but I wouldn’t be to nervous….
This club needs to get serious with its ambitions. That’s the only way we’re going to keep and attract players of Chris and Mike’s calibre.
It’s so frustrating to know that this club is capable of great things but we keep taking the foot off the gas on the field and off it.
All i/we can do as fans is pray that the higher ups don’t flub this any further.
1. Hiring Allegri was a stroke of genius. He seems to love the club and he’s turning imbibing the players with a bar-fight mentality. We don’t have the personell to play dominant football, so the underdog approach is smart.
2. I have no words to describe how good Luka and Adrien are. My god.
3. We need to trust our youth players more and invest in their development. Our youth academy is one of the most underrated in the world of club football (at least it used to be)
4. We need a top striker. Desperately.
I have a lot more to say but I’ll just leave it at this right now
Chris who? You’re not talking about Nkunku? He’d join Torino this season to get some game time before the world cup.
Mike is still at his prime, the guy is fantastic…
Please, sign the contract and increase their pay, they deserve it
