Christian Pulisic underwent a scan on his calf injury this morning, and it has been confirmed that he is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Pulisic was forced to leave Milan’s clash against Atalanta after just 35 minutes after he pulled up feeling some discomfort in his right leg. Reports had suggested that the American will definitely miss the mid-week Champions League clash, and possibly Genoa too.

Indeed, as we have learned, the MRI scan Pulisic underwent this morning highlighted a low-grade lesion of the soleus muscle in his right calf. A new test will be carried out in a week, meaning he will miss at least the next two games.

After Sunday’s game against the Rossoblu – which will be the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the club – the Rossoneri make the trip to face Hellas Verona. Following that is a game at home to Roma, which closes out the year.

It remains to be seen if the former Chelsea man will play another game before the end of 2024, and who Fonseca will opt for to replace him. Samuel Chukwueze could come in or it could be Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the American’s absence, or even Alvaro Morata in the No.10 role again.

MilanNews are reporting that the aim is to have Pulisic back available for the Supercoppa Italiana that will be played in Saudi Arabia at the beginning of January (the semi-final against Juventus is scheduled for January 3).

  1. I have a feeling that Puli’s injury is going to be the nail in the coffin for Fonseca. We are too predictable with Musah at RW, RLC at AM, and only Leao as the offensive engine.

    1. He definitely covered a lot of holes by being effective both in the build-up and further up and covering a lot of ground. RLC playing in the middle basically cuts off an attack from ever getting to the opposite wing…even Pulisic was struggling to get involved without making back post runs from the right. RLC doesn’t have the motor to make himself available for 90 min or the agility…Pulisic and Musah had a good understanding together, but I don’t see that system working the same with RLC or Morata there. Neither of them is comfortable switching positions to go out wide, and it loses all fluidity.
