‘No longer a Juventus player’ – Milan target Rabiot responds to question on future

By Oliver Fisher -

Adrien Rabiot has admitted that he doesn’t know what the future holds, but sent a message to Juventus after his contract with them expired.

According to Sky and other sources, Rabiot is of interest to the Milan management as they look for reinforcements that will raise the level of the midfield department. There was an enquiry lodged with his mother-agent Veronique, but the demands are high.

France marched on into the quarter-finals of the European Championship last night with a late 1-0 win over Belgium and they will face Portugal on Friday to try get into the final four. A decision before the end of the tournament from the 29-year-old seems unlikely.

Rabiot spoke after the game against Belgium and he was asked about his future. While he gave little away, he also seemingly left the door open for all eventualities, and his comments were relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“I don’t know what will happen but I don’t feel like talking about this. A message to the Juve fans? I think they’ve understood that I’m focused on the European Championship with my national team and that we’ll see what happens after that,” he said.

“My focus is 100% here, then obviously I’m always in contact with the club. If I’m not under contract, I’m no longer a Juventus player.”

  1. Rabiot has been good during the Euro, a little bit more quiet yesterday after an early yellow card (unjustified). He would be a great addition I think.

Théo was mostly asked to defend yesterday against Belgium and he was impressive. Superb sliding tackle in the box at some point, he probably learned that from Maldini, I had flashback haha

Maignan was also impressive. Two of the best players at the Euro so far, still waiting for a contract extension…

    1. Both Theo (defensively) and Maignan kept France alive yesterday and were crucial in their victory.

Now it’s on these bankers to put the money where their mouth is.

      1. Meanwhile Lukaku was terrible and Belgium fans say that he’s overweight. The irony is that we could play next season without Théo and Mike but with Lukaku haha

  2. Both Rabiot and Fofana would be good addition should Fonseca opt to continue with 4231.

    —–Fofana—-Rabiot—–
    Pulisic–Reijnders–Leao

    Balance.

        1. Cheapbird. I don’t see them giving such a high salary to Rabiot. Then they’d have no excuses for Mike and Theo raise.

For the 4231 we also need to get an AM or a backup AM anyway. Ruben didn’t impress imao

        2. Rabiot is after a huge one fir his last contract for last spell in high level competition. I don’t see him joining any club under 10 mill contract, plus he is free and we know how greedy his mother-agent is.
But i think if the fee is 10 or 15 with salary on 8 ish is probably worth it because his experience and set of skills. But remember Mike and Theo would demand at least the same

    1. It remains to be seen if Reijnders succeeds where you put him, although I see him doing better than Loftus Cheek (which doesn’t say a lot).
Aside from him, Bennacer did seldom play as a 10 and sometimes we can Pulisic there and Chukwueze on the right.
I’m not against Fofana, but we need a true DM like Wieffer (although he seems less and less likely to join us) or Hjobjerg, Hjulmand,…

      1. I too support the idea of Wieffer and 433 because he’s a classic #6 but Fofana seems more likely to come. I don’t see Fofana as CDM but more a defensive b2b, a defensive #8. That means we’d need also someone to dictate the tempo, a deep lying playmaker in front of the defense.

Or if Fonseca continues with 4231. In that case Fofana would be a good double pivot but Reijnders cannot play double pivot as his vertical play advantages are practically wasted. That’s why I put him further up in #10 role.

      1. No worries there.

As I wrote in my response to flyingturtle – But even getting both Rabiot and Fofana is a stretch for RedBird.

I don’t expect such movements. It’ll be Fofana at their best and even there it’s reported they’re already lowballing.

        1. Hey a midfield with Rabiot and one of Fofana/weifer/Luis(I prefer the latter btw) should be more formidable than last year in my books. But to get them is a whole other story

  3. @Romano: Juventus are closing in on deal to sign Khephren Thuram! OGC Nice have received final bid worth €20m fixed fee.

20 mil is such a steal of the century for Thuram. Him and Douglas Luiz. Seems like they’re no longer need Rabiot.

  4. Sounds like milan is turning into french national team. We have Maignen & Theo. Giroud left but if we sign Rabiot & Fofana we’ll have 4 national team players from France. Not bad. Italy unfortunately has a weak generation and having them as our skeleton/nucleus is very strong. Shame we cant add Thuram or Kolo Muani. We could of had both we let them slip away.

    1. Which Thuram? We already missed one, we’re on a streak. Sadly (or gladly) Khephren is the last one. It remains to be seen if Théo will stay. Same with Mike. Rabiot is a long shot considering his expected salary.

Bro you don’t watch PSG or France if you think that Kolo Muani would be a good recruit haha
