Journalist explains what was ‘certainly’ said during Maldini-Cardinale meeting

AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale was back in Italy for last night’s Champions League last 16 first leg against Spurs, and he met with technical director Paolo Maldini.

Cardinale was at San Siro for the first time since the 2-0 win over Juventus back in early October and his trend of seeing home wins continued after the 3-2 derby victory against Inter in his first appearance and the aforementioned triumph over the Bianconeri.

Prior to the game, Maldini confirmed the rumours that had been circulating in the media suggesting that a meeting was going to take place between him and the RedBird Capital number one.

“I won’t tell you what we said, we hadn’t seen each other for a long time. We talked about many things, we updated on the moment and we talked about this game.”

Mediaset journalist Claudio Raimondi spoke to MilanNews during which he was asked about what Maldini said to the broadcaster about the meeting he had with Cardinale and what the contents might have been.

“They certainly said that the market line will not deviate from that of the old owners, also because Cardinale’s priority is the stadium and an eventual effort will be made there,” Raimondi began.

“Maldini will have expressed his reasons, but it is certain that the line will he will be close to building a Milan without pre-made champions, but with champions to be coached.”
