Benjamin Sesko was asked whether he spoke with Zlatan Ibrahimovic about the idea of joining AC Milan during the summer transfer window, and he gave very little away.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a good first season in the German Bundesliga, scoring 14 goals. He also got two Champions League goals and two in the DFB-Pokal, earning him links with a move to Milan but also Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
There was even a point where – as per the various reports – Sesko looked like the more realistic attacking target for Milan than Joshua Zirkzee, but his higher price tag meant that the Rossoneri focused on the Dutchman before losing out on him. In the end, Sesko renewed with Leipzig.
Sesko gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of RB Leipzig’s game against Juventus and he was asked if he had any contact with the Milan advisor and his self-proclaimed idol Ibrahimovic last summer, when the transfer links were floating about.
“I don’t comment on transfer rumours. I’m happy in Leipzig and that’s why I recently extended my contract. The club still wants to grow a lot and I want to accompany the team on such an intriguing journey,” he said.
I’m looking forward to the “we almost signed Sesko article”
We just didn’t pay the money
60m on him and striker position is sorted for a decade.
Waay better option than Zirkzee
It’s sorted for three years, upon which he’d have two years left on his first contract and ask for 8M to renew and then we’d have to sell, or more likely “negotiate” for two years while we wait for him to leave on a free. So I guess sorted for maybe 5 years.
