Raimondo: RedBird Capital ‘seeking an active partner’ for ‘Flagship Fund’ Milan

A rather interesting revelation has come to light regarding RedBird Capital’s official description of AC Milan.

RedBird acquired Milan after the 2021-22 season from another fund in Elliott Management. They embarked on a mission to turn the Rossoneri into a sports and entertainment brand rather than just a football club, though on the field things haven’t gone the best.

Speculation has emerged every now and again that Gerry Cardinale is looking for potential investors from overseas (the Middle East being mentioned the most) to buy a stake in the club, though there are often instant denials.

Now, the lawyer and author Felice Raimondo has picked out something intriguing from the RedBird website regarding how Milan are labelled.

“On the RedBird Capital website, Milan is referred to as the ‘Flagship Fund’. In other words, the flagship investment.

“By conducting research, it is possible to discover that the flagship fund is typically the longest-standing, largest, or most well-known fund offered by an investment management company.

“It often bears the company’s name and serves as a representative example of its approach and investment capabilities. In essence, it is the ‘leading’ fund, embodying the company’s core investment philosophy and often attracting the largest amount of assets.

“In the case of Milan, this investment is described as ‘seeking an active partner to promote long-term growth and achieve strategic objectives’ (the other flagship fund is Talent Systems, a leading software platform for actors and casting directors, which provides workflow technology and a marketplace that enables the discovery, selection, and hiring of talent for film, television, advertising, theater, and digital productions).

“Not always, but often, flagship funds are the largest in terms of assets under management and are associated with the brand and reputation of the investment company, serving as its flagship product.

“Due to their significance, flagship funds often attract considerable interest from investors and are a popular choice for those who wish to benefit from the investment expertise of the company.”

What does this mean? Well, simply put, there is no hiding on RedBird’s part that they are open to welcoming a ‘partner’ on board to boost the growth of the club. Translated: an investor to inject capital.

  1. Nobody ranting over this article.
Y’all keep shouting everyday “sell the club, sell the club”, I have kept telling you guys, he is willing to sell, he’s looking for a buyer.

I hope y’all settled now, otherwise, y’all cab broker the deal by getting us a buyer.

    1. It’s clear they’re not here on the long run, they’re a fund and their mission here is to double up and sell. People are rightfully calling them to sell because they turned this club into a sh*thousery ever since they took over.

      1. Considering they aren’t here long-term and are still the second biggest spenders in Italy says a lot about them.
They ought to have achieved more quite frankly, but the underperformance has been due to betrayals buy certain trusted employees.

Letting 3 starters in the team walk away for free will always have a negative effect on the sporting and financial side of a team just rescued from debt.

And the management select the coaches, it is not the duty of the ownership.
Extending Pioli and signing Fonseca were every shade of wrong, and that’s not Cardinal’s job description.

        1. I don’t understand why people bring up the “they are not cheap, they spend” argument when someone bashes this ownership. I was always against spending heavily but spend wisely. And they did complete opposite. They never properly replaced those three players. In fact they sold the last remaining solid midfielder and then went on to completely revamp the midfield with non functional players, wasting 250 millions down the line.

We finished 9th, not because 3 key players left for free but because this club is ran by incompetent people who don’t have a clue how to construct a team. After those key players left for free we still managed to qualify for CL. For two consecutive seasons that is.

          1. The ownership is ready to spend in order to make the team competitive which is a plus to them.
But, if the guys buying the players don’t buy right, we still call Gerry’s name every single day even when q certain legend had a job to do.

You don’t expect Gerry to release the money and still be the one to sign the players, do you?

    2. Are you on crack? You used to have decent posts and now you’re here each day defending this incompetence starting from Gerry onwards/downwards. I for one never said sell, that’s the owner’s prerogative if he wants to or not. I prefer competence above all else and that’s what’s severely lacking in the club. People who are calling to sell is expressing similar frustrations but in a different way. Remember even in the Berlusconi era, the most trophy laden of all, they eventually became incompetent at what they did.
