Journalist claims RedBird are in talks over Sesto land in bid to build new stadium without Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s new owners RedBird Capital and Gerry Cardinale are not in the mood for hanging around when it comes to the construction of a new stadium, a report claims.

One of Cardinale’s biggest ambitions as the new owner of AC Milan is to build a new state of the art stadium to move the club into a new era. The founder of RedBird Capital has a lot of experience entertainment and sports sector, considering that in the past contributed to the construction of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, considered among the best in the world at that time.

According to what is being reported by Stefano Donati of Telelombardia, there are advanced negotiations between the Hines fund – who are owners of the Sesto San Giovanni area and the site of the former Falck steelworks – and RedBird for the construction of a new stadium.

There have already been several talks, the stadium is a priority for Cardinale who is in a hurry and does not trust the timing of the San Siro project.

  1. If this is the case, Gerry Cardinale will forever have my outmost respect! This what the fans have been craving and what the club needs! We need that stadium built as quickly as possible, so that we have a head start to the rest of Italy!!

      1. Exactly! Building with Inter would just mean more bureaucracy and a 10 year wait which is just not acceptable. Elliott would’ve done so to save money by sharing the cost with Inter, but with the connections brought to Milan by RedBird, there really is no incentive to wait that long for a possible San Siro project. There will be plenty of investors ready to be part of Sesto and with Milan’s modern media strategy we simply NEED to have our own home without Inter there. Will be nice to see Inter rotting in that old building alone, while Milan can make bank on a the new Stadium lol
