Relevo: Kamada still expected to join Milan on a free transfer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain determined to close the signing of Daichi Kamada despite the change in management, according to a report.

Milan seemed set to get the arrival of Kamada all done and completed not long after Eintracht Frankfurt’s last game of the season, but the sacking of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara prompted rumours that things might be on hold.

According to Jorge Picon of Relevo however, the situation with Kamada has not changed. Milan are the option that the player likes the most, and who we is hoping to join on a free transfer when his deal runs out on July 1.

The change of directors has not affected Milan’s desire to bring the Japan international to Italy either, and an agreement is about to be reached.

It is a reinforcement in an important position for Milan presuming it gets over the line, given that Brahim Diaz has returned to Real Madrid.

  1. Hope this deal is approved by grande padre Pioli otherwise he’ll become bench warmer. I am curious what impact will have Kamada??? I like him, but maybe Pioli don’t know how to deploy AMC!!!

  2. In the meantime, Chelsea is going for Onana from Shinter and they are offering up Lukaku and Koulibaly as counter parts.

    Well Lukaku makes: 12M and
    Koulibaly makes: 17M

With Shinters financial situation this will be fun to watch 🙂

    1. It’s possible Chelsea will offer to pay a large part of Koulibalys salary. Which would make him a decent replacement for Skriniar.

Meanwhile I’m hoping the Kamada deal is done, simply they are choosing to wait until July 1 to officially announce it. Would seem an excellent low cost option for a reliable rotation player, possibly even a starter.

To get him off the books, PL clubs are known to do this with their high earners. Could be in the form of an extended loan. Hard to know if its really worth it for them but often it frees up just enough wage cap to fit under FFP restrictions (not that Chelsea seem to follow FFP rules)

          1. I know that sometimes to offload players, clubs agree to pay a certain amount of salary, along with loan club, to make the deal feasible..

Yeah in the end, Koulibaly will have to accept a large wage cut. Or a golden handshake goodbye, eg like Hazard, to end the contract early.

Depends how badly Chelsea wanna offload him or his wages. Thing is, it’s just paper talk, I could easily see him fitting into Pochettinos short term plans in which case he won’t be offered in exchange. Just because he had one bad season… he has a 10 year track record of being a v good defender prior.

Unfortunately he’s the wrong age profile for our transfer profile, as I bet if he came back to Serie A he’d be one of the best CBs in the league.
