CM: Renato Sanches snubs Barcelona and wants Milan – two factors that favour €18-20m deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are growing in confidence that they will be able to secure the signing of Renato Sanches from Lille this summer, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reports that the Portuguese midfielder was actually one step away from joining the Rossoneri in the last couple of days of the winter transfer market but in the end the Ligue 1 club decided to postpone the negotiations until next summer.

Sanches has ‘promised himself’ to directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara as per the report, having given his priority to joining Milan over the various offers that have arrived in recent weeks.

One actually came from Barcelona, who now want to try and sign Franck Kessie instead on a free transfer. Milan meanwhile are hoping to use the player’s approval and the excellent relations with Jorge Mendes – proven by the definition of Leao’s renewal – the find an agreement with Lille.

The transfer fee should be €18-20m, a figure ‘spoiled’ by the umpteenth refusal by the Portuguese international to the offer of a renewal, so barring sensational twists Renato Sanches will be coached by Stefano Pioli next season.
