CM: Renegotiation possible for Vranckx despite differing stance of Maldini and Pioli

Despite the fact he has barely played this season Aster Vranckx’s future is not cut and dry, with AC Milan reportedly evaluating what to do.

Calciomercato.com recall that Vranckx started for Belgium’s U21 side last night against the Czech Republic as the captain, which is a far cry from his role at Milan where he has played less than 200 minutes across all competitions and has made only one start, that coming in the Coppa Italia against Torino.

Vranckx gave an interview with Belgian TV station Sporza during which he spoke about his lack of playing time and viewing the season as a learning process, one that has seen Tiémoué Bakayoko jump above him in the pecking order even though he has been set to leave for each of the last few windows.

Regarding the €12m option to buy inserted into the loan agreement with Wolfsburg, spending the last two months on the bench does not suggest that a permanent deal is likely, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are firmly convinced by his quality.

Pioli is not as convinced but the feeling is that Vranckx’s future is still not written, and towards the end of the campaign the directors could opt to renegotiate the deal at a lower figure.
