Report: Arsenal open talks with entourage of Ligue 1 boss amid AC Milan links

By Oliver Fisher -

The entourage of Bordeaux manager Paulo Sousa have confirmed contacts from Arsenal over taking the manager’s job, a report claims.

According to L’Equipe – as cited by a tweet from GFFN – the Gunners have reached out to his representatives over the idea of succeeding Unai Emery.

Emery was sacked last week with Arsenal sat 11th in the Premier League table prior to last night’s win over West Ham United, with Freddie Ljungberg placed in caretaker charge.

A number of names have been linked, with Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti even apparently being lined up.

L’Equipe (via Calciomercato.it) also recently made the claim that there have been contacts between the Rossoneri leadership and Sousa, previously of Fiorentina, about taking over from Pioli if results at Milan do not pick up.

Bordeaux currently sit third in Ligue 1 behind PSG and Marseille, with Sousa’s stock seemingly on the rise at the moment.
