Report claims Arteta has picked out Milan star as ideal Arsenal signing

By Oliver Fisher -

Fikayo Tomori has been linked a few times with a potential return to England, and now a report has claimed Arsenal are interested in signing him.

Tomori joined Milan during the 2020-21 season on an initial loan from Chelsea that became a permanent deal six months later. He has been nothing short of sensational since his arrival at the club, becoming one of the best defenders in the league.

These performances have attracted interest, and Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported earlier in the week that Bayern ‘have enquired’ about the Englishman, but they received a firm rejection from Milan who do not want to sell.

Now, Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing Tomori according to FootballTransfers, with Mikel Arteta in particular picking him out as a good option to upgrade his backline. The Gunners are ‘monitoring his situation’ but interest ‘remains in the early stages’.

The report mentions that Tomori’s family are Arsenal fans and his favourite player growing up was France legend Thierry Henry, as he revealed during an interview with OneFootball in 2023.

“Thierry Henry was my idol when I was playing for my Sunday league team. I always used to have gloves on, and pull my socks over my knees,” he said.

Tomori’s current contract at Milan runs until 2027 and he renewed last year, so the Rossoneri have all the leverage in negotiations, while he is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury too.

  1. I do see a big player leaving this summer to finance more incoming players. Realistically it would be maignan, tomori, leao, or Theo to bring the kind of cash we need.

  2. If Fikayo Tomori does leave Milan, it would be a huge loss for Milan, more than if Milan lost Mike Maignan (and I am not kidding there – just look up Mike’s fbref numbers – he’s had a sharp downturn in his saves stats for this season, and barely ranks as mediocre in Serie A for saves – this is in fact a big reason why Milan have given up so many ties and one point losses to lesser teams this season).

For Tomori’s sake, if he leaves, I seriously hope he joins a better team with a better coach than Arsenal.
Arteta is the Master of The Bottle Job, and Blame Everybody But Me, as is much of the rest of the Arsenal team. They are all Choke Artists and Whiners Supreme.

  3. I’d rather give Thiaw or Kalulu away instead of Tomori. He’s learning the ways of the senators now and the force is strong with him. I’m pretty sure one of Tomori/Thiaw/Kalulu will be sold in the summer.

    1. Tomorry impressed in the Scudetto year, though last season he didn’t drawn up goods performances, showing his weaknesses as The aerial duel in addition to his passing ability and his aggressiveness sometime plays against him and cost us many silly goal, this season is different he get back to his highest standar, but I’m Not convinced by him, failing in High Stake champions league matches, I think we need better player than him, Malick Thiaw eve. I’m not a big fan, hold more qualities, passing ability-vision of the game-areal duel-composure, younger meaning an improvement is possible.

    2. If Conte, in fact, becomes the manager I really want to see a back three of Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori…if only just once. Easily the most athletic back 3 in Italy, maybe even Europe.

  4. So arsenal are unwilling to even loan out one of their defenders to us, but want to buy our best CB? P!ss off. You want him, pay the English tax: 100mil cuz he’s far better than Maguire and Fofana.

  5. hope he stay, but if he go for 100m++ i want Scalvini/ Buongiorno/ both as replacement..
& i just wondering why we didn’t even try for Veratti/ Jorginho to fix our midfield (no creativity/ killer pass)
