Report: Milan and Newcastle both face their own race against time in €30m Botman stakes

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still confident that they will secure the signing of Sven Botman from Lille as Newcastle United also face potential delays, a report claims.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, the Mapgies are looking to complete the Premier League’s process to get Dan Ashworth as a new sporting director so he can begin work soon, but that might mean that they are too late to try and hijack the Botman deal.

Milan ‘still retain confidence’ in getting a deal done for the Dutchman as per the report, despite the fact the Rossoneri are facing their own delay as the takeover by RedBird Capital is currently in the process of going through.

Moreover, the Lille star is currently on duty with the Dutch U21 side until June 11, but that might give Milan the time they need for RedBird to acquire a 70% stake in the club and get the €30m deal over the line.

Whichever comes first between Milan getting taken over and Ashworth arriving at Newcastle could be a crucial factor in deciding where he goes.

  1. If Botman is not willing to join that let it be. How about thinking Monoco’s Badiashile who young and with good positioning and depth. Another choice is Torino’s Bremer also a good choice.
