Report: Milan begin talks with centre-back over new contract – Raiola wants release clause

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have opened talks with Mino Raiola over the extension of club captain Alessio Romagnoli, according to a report.

Romagnoli is one of the players in the current squad who has actually been here the longest having signed for the club back in summer 2015, and he has seen his importance to the team increase which culminated in him being named the captain ahead of the 2018-19 season.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter, the Rossoneri have opened talks with Mino Raiola over the extension of Romagnoli’s contract, which is set to expire in June 2022.

Raiola would like to include a release clause, and the parties will update in the coming weeks. There are of course more pressing matters involving Raiola’s Milan clients such as the duo of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, both of whom are on deals which are set to run out in just six months.

  1. To be honest, i think #13 has not been that convincing and crucial. I don’t see a problem to insert a release clause in his new contract as long as it will help to reach a deal at a reasonable price. There are tons of players on the market with equal or even better quality but cheaper price.
