Report: Milan could sign midfielder on a free transfer when he leaves Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could try to sign a midfield reinforcement from city rivals Inter ahead of next season, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by InterLive.it (via PianetaMilan), Roberto Gagliardini is expected to leave Inter at the end of the season once his contract expires. The Nerazzurri would have liked to sell him in January, to get a few million euros, but the player wants to stay in Milano.

Gagliardini is represented by Giuseppe Riso, with whom Maldini has an excellent relationship, so he could therefore join the Rossoneri at the end of the season who are looking for a new midfielder.

Pioli has already coached Gagliardini when he was at Inter in 2017, so he knows him well and knows what he can bring. Moreover, being from and Italian academy, he would be useful when compiling the squad lists for Serie A and the Champions League.

  1. He was good under Conte, but haven’t seen him much under Limone. He has become Inter’s version pf Bakayoko.
But, based on how many other needs Milan has in the next summer mercato, and the probable budget available, signing Gagliardini on a free to be Tonali’s back up isn’t such a bad idea. Plus he will help with the UCL quota.

  2. Dont like the player all that much. Guess it depends on the salary in the end. He could bring some depth and exp. But on the other hand we could end up with a deadwood player with a 3-4 year contract if it doesnt work out
