AC Milan are in advanced talks over the signing of Basel defender Omar Alderete ahead of the summer window, according to a report.
It is seemingly no secret that Milan are in the market for a new centre-back amid doubts over the futures of both Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte, and Alderete is a name that has been linked occasionally in recent months.
According to Swiss outlet Sport.ch, the 23-year-old is attracting interest from a number of clubs after an impressive season, and his agent has apparently told Versus – a South American news site – that his client is about to move to Serie A.
The Sport report adds that talks with Milan are well advanced. There is even speculation as to whether the transfer will be completed in the coming days, and Alderete – who is suspended for Basel’s next game – could easily travel to complete a move.
The Paraguay international made 44 appearances across all competitions in 2019-20, scoring three goals.
