Report: Pioli could battle Conceicao for vacancy – what it means for Milan

Former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli could face competition for a job in the Saudi Pro League from a head coach the Rossoneri were tempted to replace him with during the summer.

When Pioli departed Milan, it seemed that Sergio Conceicao was the in-line replacement until the Diavolo turned to his compatriot Paulo Fonseca, and it seems he could face another Rossoneri-themed battle shortly.

As Falah Sport (via Francesco Nasato on X) reports, Al Nassr are close to sacking their head coach Luis Castro. If this happens, they will be tempted to make a move for the 58-year-old coach, alternatively, they are also looking at the former Porto coach.

Given the Rossoneri are still paying a €7.5 million gross salary to the Italian coach, there will be some eager eyes on the situation from the management, who will be praying that his wages can be taken off the books.

Additionally, considering the current situation with Fonseca, if things do not turn around with the Portuguese coach, then having Pioli off the wage bill would allow a lot more freedom with their decision, and it could make a decision arrive sooner.

Perhaps, Castro’s sacking could start a domino effect for Milan, but other things would have to occur as well.
