Report: PSG believe they can beat Man City in race for €30m Milan star due to powerful ally

Paris Saint-Germain believe they have a key edge over Manchester City in the race to snatch midfielder Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan, a report claims.

The Algeria international arrived from Empoli last summer and has been one of the few brights spots of a difficult season for Milan, nailing down a spot in the starting XI as the club’s best holding midfield options.

Le10Sport recently claimed that PSG sporting director Leonardo wants to raid his former side for Bennacer, with a budget of €30m ready to get the deal done, while Foot Mercato stated on Tuesday that Manchester City – and in particular Pep Guardiola – are also keen.

According to the latest from the same outlet (via MilanLive), PSG do indeed have an offer of around €30m ready to try and tempt Milan into a sale, but so far there are no signs of willingness to do so.

PSG sporting director Leonardo believes he has a powerful ally in the race for Bennacer though in Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani – the Qatari sheikh who owns the club. The billionaire is a big fan of the 22-yer-oldold Algerian midfielder and would like him in the French capital.

Nonetheless, it will take a mega offer to change Milan’s mind, who want to build around Bennacer next season.
