Reports: Milan and Leipzig miss out on bargain €5m deal as player closes in on Man Utd move

AC Milan and RB Leipzig appear to have been beaten by Manchester United in the race to sign Ecuador starlet Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo has had quite the rise to fame as he only made his first-team debut for Independiente del Valle in October 2019, but now the 19-year-old has made 30 appearances for his club, scoring six goals and amassing two assists.

Journalist Marco Lopez Castillo on Twitter claimed yesterday that Milan and RB Leipzig have joined the list of clubs who are interested in Caicedo, which includes Deportivo Alaves, West Ham United and Ajax. However, he added that the only club that is going to have a meeting with the player’s entourage is Manchester United.

According to DiarioExtra (via UtdReport on Twitter), talks between Independiente del Valle and United for Caicedo are well advanced, and everything indicates the player will move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils should pay €5m (around £4.5m) for the an offer which exceeds what both RB Leipzig and Milan intend to invest.

This is backed up by Ekrem Konur, who reports that United have been in contact with Independiente and the player wants to move, having requested that to his club that they facilitate his exit.
