AC Milan seemed to be making good progress in their pursuit of Filippo Terracciano over the past couple of days but things have slowed down, reports claim.
This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports that Terracciano seemed to be ‘one step away’ from Milan after Tuesday’s meeting between the directors and player’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, but now the deal has slowed down.
The reason is simple: in addition to the competition from Fiorentina, Bologna and Juventus, the performance of some of the younger players in the Coppa Italia win over Cagliari – such as Alex Jimenez who did well at left-back – have reduced the urgency to sign a new full-back.
As a result, Milan have taken their foot off the accelerator regarding the Terracciano talks. After Matteo Gabbia’s return, the priority seems to be a new central defender, but even in this case the positive signs from Jan-Carlo Simic in recent weeks could change the plans.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) are also reporting that there have been no steps forward on the Terracciano-Milan front. The Rossoneri have no intention of spending a sum exceeding €4m including bonuses, but Verona want €5m and believe they can use the competition to start an auction.
Even can’t spend 5m ? Completely moneyball here. Why not try signing free agent players 😀
Inter does that. They’re already lined up to snatch Teremi, Zielinski etc. and already got Mkhitarian, Calha & Thuram for free. I wouldn’t say it’s the “completely wrong approach” there… If you don’t get origis etc…
We have Kalulu, and Florenzi who can play RB, and now Jimenez who can play on both sides, Bartesaghi can be a 3rd option at LB depending on his development. Then we have a lot of CB’s and the rise of Simic showed our youngsters are more than capable, we’re risking of having a massively inflated squad if we sign too many backups for a single position. Put the money where we need it, we need a destroyer in midfield, a 2nd choice LB, and another striker as Giroud at this point should be a 3rd option not a starter, Jovic is good enough to start or be a 2nd choice if we get someone more potent at striker.
board think he’s too Italian
This site ,Tuttosporti are the enemy of milan.
Because this Player is the best of all and Moccada and A D ottavio are much more Aware the importamce of signing this Player,Jemez is not owned by acmilan, and Calabria and Folorenzi are worst platers after Kjear and Krunic and Gioud.
He will be the new Tassootti with long vission and bright Future
1. Jimenez is really good and if he continues on this path Real will surely take him back.
2. Kalulu is a prospect that can bring a lot in terms of profit and capital gains as he was bought for around 300k. I am sure one of Kalulu/Thiaw/Tomori will leave in the summer.
3. And then there’s Florenzi who’s not getting any younger and is quite injury prone.
But let’s worry about this next season like we worry now for the lack of ST and DM. And let’s worry next season when this kid explodes like the likes of Scalvini and Calafiori.
How do u guys assess these guys like that after 1 game ?
If you’re refering to Terracciano, he’s a low risk for 5 millions but could be high reward. Besides he’s really versatile considering he’s been used from RB, CB, LB to midfield.
The fact remains that sooner or later they’ll be looking around for a RB replacement. Jimenez is Madrid bound, Kalulu will be sold for capital gains and Florenzi is not getting younger.
Its silly not to buy him for 5M. Shows potential and they could just keep him at verona for a year or two. Florenzi will retire or move on in a year or two.
gotta snatch that italian talent where we can
This is crazy, we need to get good Italian talent, this kid has serie A experience, can play in a number of positions and can only get better as he is only 20, and is totally affordable, this management is so biased towards foreign talent it is disgusting.
What’s sad is they’re willing to spend more for a foreigner such as 10 million Brassier then a domestic talent with Serie A experience who has same characteristics and is half cheaper.
Instead of the word “sad” I’d choose “infuriating”.
They are willing to discuss 10 million Bressier who’s characteristics are similar but won’t discuss 5 million domestic talent with Serie A experience.
Reminds me of the time they bought Pellegrino for 4 millions instead of Calafiori for same amount.
That turned out well.
Moncada prefers to negotiate in French? Maybe that’s why he’s obsessed with players coming from there? This is getting ridiculous.
Yeah, ridiculous this obsession toward French players
Um lets be fair now, our French players are top notch and probably the most valuable in the entire squad.
But I think we really do need another Italian player for quota reasons, and Terracciano isn’t just one to fill the books. He’s actually a promising player.
Ballo-Toure was “French” too. Remember him? The one we can’t get rid off.
isnt it obvious that france and french players are moncada’s only hunting ground by now? he does know about any other league. simple.
he will forego the guy now, and we will regret it later, innit? moneyball has discovered the next messi but we dont know him yet…yeah right!
Moncada will work his magic regardless of what is said, especially on this platform. LMAO!!! He is in the position he is because he knows what he’s doing.
Jimenez’ future depends on Madrid at this point. They scouted him for a reason and he’s already here. I’d rather he became our concrete option.
Terra? A name that JUST popped up yesterday. But he’s Italian so he’s being romanticized?
So what is Brassier who’s name also JUST popped up yesteday, costs twice as Terracciano but has no Serie A experience in comparison to the latter?
Touché
Tuttosport. Don’t put much into this.
I think we’ll still get this guy. Jimenez is far from certain.
