Reports: Milan could close deal for Schalke star at €18m despite reports of Liverpool bid

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have not given up hope of signing Schalke defender Ozan Kabak before the window closes at 20:00 CEST, according to reports.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the Milan management have identified Kabak the first choice to strengthen the defence. The paper claims that the Rossoneri want to get close to the €25m requested by Schalke.

That is why they are trying to convince the Bundesliga club with bonuses, or with a formula based on a paid loan plus an option to buy, the same type of operation which saw Sandro Tonali arrive.

Kabak has already given his approval regarding the move, but time is working against Milan and Schalke. The alternative remains Antonio Rudiger: contacts continue for both players, but one this is for sure in that it is necessary to reinforce the defence.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport are reporting that Milan could close a deal for Kabak at the €18-20m mark for a player that Nico Schira claims Schalke recently rejected a €24m bid from Liverpool for.
