Reports: Milan determined to sign Ligue 1 star linked with Arsenal and Man Utd – the plan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are seriously interested in signing Boubakary Soumaré from Lille in the winter transfer window, according to a report.

According to TodoFichajes in Spain – who earlier reported that Gianluigi Donnarumma should sign a new deal with a €90m release clause – Soumare is ‘an active target’ for Milan for the January market.

The Rossoneri management tried to sign the 21-year-old over the summer but could not strike a deal with Lille, but they are still keen on adding him to their ranks so they have two quality pairings available, namely Bennacer-Kessie and Tonali-Soumare.

Soumaré is considered one of the most promising midfielders in French and even European football, but his contract expires in 2022 and it seems he is no closer to signing a new contract.

The main obstacle to is that several Premier League clubs are closely watching him too, with Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United among those linked by the same outlet last month.

Meanwhile, a report on MilanLive – which cites SportMediaset – claims that Milan could sell Rade Krunic in order to help raise the funds to sign Soumare.
